Favorite River in Colorado: is constantly changing, I am always looking for new experiences, new species, & new challenges. If I had to choose it would be the Urban South Platte, that stretch is always full of surprises and consistent big, albeit smelly, fish.
Places I have fished: Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Santa Monica Bay and most recently in the marshes of South Louisiana for big Redfish.
Favorite Rod: St. Croix Bank Robber 9’ 7wt
Favorite Reel: Nautilus FWX
Favorite Fly(‘s): Streamers, Streamers, Streamers, My tying bench looks like a muppet massacre.
Why do I Flyfish? Fishing is a constant challenge, on the water, all of the complications and nuisances of life disappear and all that is left is a very real connection with the grandeur and complexity of the natural world, it is never boring or the same. Nature always has a new set of variables and new challenges to offer.
If I could be fishing right now anywhere in the world, I would be…. Anywhere in the salt, saltwater fly fishing is such an exciting and visual game. I can’t wait for my next shot.
When you’re not fishing, what are you doing? I really enjoy the world of design, working with wood, metal, synthetics & pen and ink, provides an artistic outlet which goes beyond aesthetics and offers an end that is both beautiful and functional. Any time in the garage with tools in hand is time well spent. I also am a huge Colorado Rockies fan, and go to as many games as possible.
