"There's no shortage of fly shops in the Denver area, and you can say good things about almost all of them, but Trout's is definitely as good as it gets.  

All the guys are very knowledgeable and can point you to all the streams (or lakes) that are fishing well and help you select all the hot patterns with little to no effort at all.  They host a lot of guest speakers and free classes to help improve all your skills and learn more.   They also have great stream reports on their website that they update frequently during the spring, summer, and fall months.  So even if you never step foot in the store sign up for their newsletter and visit their website - its one of the best around.

One of the biggest compliments I can pay Trout's is that they don't make you feel uncomfortable if you're not a fly fishing expert.  I just started a couple years ago and I've come a long way with their help and guidance (I also have to give credit to Kerry and crew at Orvis Cherry Creek - also top notch).   I've never felt like anyone there ever looked down at me or rolled their eyes at any question I had or tried to sell me something I didn't need.  They know how to treat their customers and know how to keep them coming back.'"

"What can I say.  They have everything.  Every fly, every rod, every reel, every vice, every bag, everything you need to fish in Colorado, Alaska, or anywhere else.  And they have great advice.

When you arrive you are immediately greeted by one of their friendly staff, that could be the owner or their four legged mascot who is equally accomplished in the art of fly fishing.  There are very few fly fishing shops that have such a great inventory and helpful staff.  If you are an experienced fly fisher or a beginner there is no better place to go in Colorado than Trouts."

"This place is a great shop here in Denver.  The knowledge is clearly there, and the staff is always very welcoming.  Kyle knew me by name by the second time I went in and always makes sure he says hello even if he is with other customers.  Tucker is also always open  to ask questions, and will give you the low down on any river you may have questions about.  This is always nice to find in a local shop.  

I have purchased a few pieces of gear from here and also get flies here and there as well.  Typically I come in to chat and see what is hot at the moment.  The reason I give it a four is that aside from all of these positive things, I only find one thing missing.  The materials sections is completely slacking when compared to other shops.  As I live in the neighborhood, I will head in if i need something without having to haul to another shop, but I try to get my materials from other places.  The prices also tend to be a bit more expensive here on tying materials as well.

"Trout's is definitely the place for women's fishing gear! There isn't a lot of fashion involved in fishing outfits for women, that's for sure. But at Trout's I found exactly what I needed, it is reasonably priced and it is (comparatively speaking) attractive. Plus, if you order online, they offer free shipping which is great so I don't have to try on the headwater waders in the store.

The river reports are nice to have as well."
