New to Denver, Happy to Find My New Fly Shop!. So just moved to Denver from Summit County, and was so excited to find that I had a fly shop in my neighborhood. I stopped by there today to get some info on fishing for carp in the South Platte River. I was immediately greeted by Cody when I walked through the door. He couldn't have been more helpful, and got me into some flies that worked amazing well (just caught my first carp this afternoon!). The shop was beautiful, very well stocked with the top brands, and the staff very knowledgeable and great to deal with.
I'll definitely be going back, and I would recommend this fly shop to ANYBODY needing fly fishing goods or information.

“There is no such thing as fashion forward fishing gear for women, but at Trouts I found everything I needed, it is reasonably priced and it is as attractive as fishing gear gets. Plus they offer free shipping if you order online, which is great so I don’t have to try on my waders in the store.”

“Trouts is much more than just a fishing shop. Not only do they have friendly staff and a great selection, they have helpful resources. They provide fishing reports and info on fishing destinations. You can even book your fishing trip through them. Best of all, my wife and I just signed up for private fishing lessons through what they call their angling university and we are really looking forward to the trip!”

“I went into Trouts the other day after driving by numerous times, and was immediately blown away by the depth and quality of the shop and the products they offered. The staff was amazing knowledgeable and helpful, and were more than willing to answer all the questions I had. I will definitely be back, and would encourage anybody looking for a great Denver fly shop to look no further then Trouts Fly Fishing!”

“I was in your store on Sunday and purchased a Simms day/chest pack. I want to thank you for your assistance. Many times when I go to a fly shop, I feel like I am looked down on because I don’t know as much as the sales person. I didn’t get that feeling at all when dealing with you and it is greatly appreciated. You will definitely be getting my future business!”

"There's no shortage of fly shops in the Denver area, and you can say good things about almost all of them, but Trouts is definitely as good as it gets.
All the guys are very knowledgeable and can point you to all the streams (or lakes) that are fishing well and help you select all the hot patterns with little to no effort at all. They host a lot of guest speakers and free classes to help improve all your skills and learn more. They also have great stream reports on their website that they update frequently during the spring, summer, and fall months. So even if you never step foot in the store sign up for their newsletter and visit their website - its one of the best around.
One of the biggest compliments I can pay Trouts is that they don't make you feel uncomfortable if you're not a fly fishing expert. I just started a couple years ago and I've come a long way with their help and guidance (I also have to give credit to Kerry and crew at Orvis Cherry Creek - also top notch). I've never felt like anyone there ever looked down at me or rolled their eyes at any question I had or tried to sell me something I didn't need. They know how to treat their customers and know how to keep them coming back.'"

"What can I say. They have everything. Every fly, every rod, every reel, every vice, every bag, everything you need to fish in Colorado, Alaska, or anywhere else. And they have great advice.
When you arrive you are immediately greeted by one of their friendly staff, that could be the owner or their four legged mascot who is equally accomplished in the art of fly fishing. There are very few fly fishing shops that have such a great inventory and helpful staff. If you are an experienced fly fisher or a beginner there is no better place to go in Colorado than Trouts."

"This place is a great shop here in Denver. The knowledge is clearly there, and the staff is always very welcoming. Kyle knew me by name by the second time I went in and always makes sure he says hello even if he is with other customers. Tucker is also always open to ask questions, and will give you the low down on any river you may have questions about. This is always nice to find in a local shop.
I have purchased a few pieces of gear from here and also get flies here and there as well. Typically I come in to chat and see what is hot at the moment. The reason I give it a four is that aside from all of these positive things, I only find one thing missing. The materials sections is completely slacking when compared to other shops. As I live in the neighborhood, I will head in if i need something without having to haul to another shop, but I try to get my materials from other places. The prices also tend to be a bit more expensive here on tying materials as well.
Hope this helps, Happy Fishing!"
"Trouts fly fishing is much more than a fishing store, that's for sure. I went to a free fishing class and happy hour there and it was just as fun as it was informational. It's great to meet other fishermen too.
My wife and I just booked a private fly fishing lesson through Trouts and we're really looking forward to the trip.
The newsletters are very helpful too, and you can sign up on their website http://www.troutsflyfishing.com"

"Trouts is definitely the place for women's fishing gear! There isn't a lot of fashion involved in fishing outfits for women, that's for sure. But at Trouts I found exactly what I needed, it is reasonably priced and it is (comparatively speaking) attractive. Plus, if you order online, they offer free shipping which is great so I don't have to try on the headwater waders in the store.
The river reports are nice to have as well."

“The South Platte is my home river, but I had not fished it much. Intimidated I guess. What a great day it turned out to be! Reid’s service was great, his technical knowledge was outstanding and fish were caught. I feel totally confident returning to the Platte and fishing it on my own in the future.”

“What a great shop!!! I went in recently to get outfitted (I’m new to fly fishing) after a not so great experience at one of the big box stores in town. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door, and the service only proceeded to get better. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, but was still able to talk to a complete rookie like myself. Although this was my first visit, it certainly won’t be my last. Keep up the good work Trouts, and for anybody looking for a great fly shop in Denver, look no further!!!”

“I live in Longmont and have a few shop options locally but will drive down to Trouts for my fly fishing gear. Their fly selection is one of the best on the front range whether its trout, carp, bass, pike and salt water they have it covered. Try finding a shop locally that does more customer events than Trouts, you wont. The staff are seasoned anglers who have put the time on the water that gives insight to the knowledge they can pass on to your fishing needs. Just stop in to one of their happy hour events and meet new people who have the same passion and will road trip to a river on a moments notice. I have met some great fishing friends there.”

“What I've learned about this water (the South Platte River): We've established too many "rules" when it comes to fishing Deckers. It's OK to break from conventional wisdom and swap the nymph rig for a giant switch rod. On this day, I had the pleasure of fishing alongside a pair of river gurus from Trouts Fly Fishing, a fly shop and guide service in Denver. Reid Baker, the shop's guide manager, and Will Rice, the marketing director, led me on a fishing trip with a purpose. What better way to disprove this myth than to catch fish on three unique methods - nymphing, streamer fishing and with dry flies - in the same day? I can’t say enough about the Trout’s staff, including guide manager Reid Baker, if you are looking for a fishy eye for your next outing. ”

“I booked a trip at the YR Ranch on the lower Blue for my father in law (first timer) and me (experienced former guide). Dave was our guide, and he was unfailingly patient and gave us exactly the trip we were looking to have. He spent most of his time with my father in law, ensuring he had a good first day that would leave him wanting to come back for more. He let me fish how I wanted to fish, and provided advanced pointers in a way that wasn't heavy handed and will make me a better angler.”
“We had one of the best days on the water I have ever had, and I think my father in law is a convert. It was amazing to see how much he learned in one day.”

“I think Martin did a great job and I really learned a lot. My daughter caught her 1st fish with a fly rod and was very happy. I would definitely recommend Martin and will plan to go again in the future.”

“Dave is a master of what he does! If he continues teaching the way he does, you will have people lined up out the door to take his class.”

“Trouts Guide Service represents the best of the best, in that Trouts is one of America’s finest fly shops and has some of the most savvy fly guides I’ve ever fished with. Trouts is in its own league in one of the ‘fishiest’ areas of the country.”
