When I first came across Howler Brothers, a few lines in their catalog caught my attention. “We are Howler Brothers. We are not really related by blood. This fly tying class is designed to expand fly tier’s ability to create effective grasshopper patterns in anticipation of the amazing grasshopper fishing we should see in July and August. We keep our tying classes small – Hopper Madness is limited to six (6) participants.

With water levels fairly high in many of the popular rivers across the State of Colorado, the South Platte River drainage continues to be a solid go-to option. The stream flow at Deckers was 91 CFS on June 1st and the water was clear – conditions were sunny with temperatures in the 60s. With a blue winged olive hatches coming off in the morning, we saw activity right off the bat.
June in Colorado means prime time fly fishing season is upon us.
