With water temperatures rising in the across the state of Colorado, it is important to take extra precautions when making decisions where and when to fish. Colorado Trout Unlimited just released a request asking for volunteer fishing closures on rivers that are especially hard hit by the recent drought conditions. Trouts Fly Fishing would like to thank all of our customers who participated in our On-Stream Beginner Fly Fishing School this past weekend. Our students learned the basics of fly fishing including casting, reading water, entomology, and fly selection. They then had a chance to put it all together and get out on the water and catch some great looking fish.
The WCR Ranch is located on a small tributary of the upper Colorado River, approximately 35 miles in length. The creek rises in northwestern Grand County, in the Arapaho National Forest at the top of the continental divide and flows southeast toward the Colorado River. The WCR Ranch is home to Lodgepole and Ponderosa Pines, Douglas-Firs, and Aspen stands. The creek itself meanders through a wide-open meadow closely cropped with willows, cut banks, and a variety of alpine...
