Cleaning Up The Denver South Platte River

Ivan Orsic / Apr 30, 2014

This past Saturday Trouts joined our good friends at Denver Trout Unlimited and the Greenway Foundation to help clean up the South Platte River and help raise awareness about the $22 million river restoration project that is being launched to help improve our home water.

After the river sweep and clean up, the Greenway Foundation hosted a Ceremonial Groundbreaking where volunteers of all ages from across the city learned how to help improve the urban greenways that surround the South Platte River. The Greenway foundation also shared the plans of the projects that include improvements at Grant Frontier Park, Pasquinel’s Landing, Ruby Hill Park and Overland Pond Park that will hopefully be completed within the next eighteen months.

Denver Trout Unlimited has been a strong supporter of these projects and a great advocate helping to ensure that the fishery is always under consideration. Trouts has been a long time supporter of both Colorado Trout Unlimited and DTU and it is great to see their hard work beginning to really pay off.
