I had the opportunity to test this reel on a ton of 10lb + fish in the past few weeks (in January mind you!!!) in both fresh and saltwater, and it performed flawlessly.

I have always been a true believer in the “green sticks,” and was quite excited to hear about Winston coming out with a TRUE fast action rod. What Winston created was a rod of powerhouse proportions. When cast with a properly selected line, the rod threw any amount of line with ease. Accuracy was also not a problem, as even in a stiff wind, the rod would place your line on a dime.

The first time I used this rod was during a weeklong trip to the Amazon Rain Forest in Northern Brazil. We were targeting Peacock Bass, which are a very demanding species due to the distance and number of casts that are made daily (roughly 1000-1500). Day after day, this rod performed beautifully no matter if I was casting a large surface popper, or 400-grain sink tip line.
