Trouts Guide Service had the chance to take Colorado Springs Gazette Sports and Outdoors writer Paul Klee out for a day on the South Platte River near Deckers. Paul was able to mix up his fishing techniques and in the process bust quite a few myths about this Gold Medal fishery less than an hour from Denver. Here’s a sound bite from Paul’s fly fishing report from Deckers:
“Two-handed switch rods on the Platte? Isn't that against the rules? What I've learned about this water: We've established too many ‘rules’ when it comes to fishing Deckers. It's OK to break from conventional wisdom and swap the nymph rig for a giant switch rod.”
