Trouts Fly Fishing would like to thank everyone who participated in our On-Stream Beginner Fly Fishing School that was held this past Saturday. The fishing conditions were tough but everyone fished hard and caught fish.
In our beginner school, anglers learn the basics of fly fishing including casting, reading water, entomology, still water techniques, and fly selection. And in some cases, our students hook, land, net, and release their own fish! Way to go Terra! Here is the full trip report from our Guide/Instructor Dave Lovell:
"We had yet another great day with our beginning fishing school at Rowdy Trout Ranch. Our students and clients have a new found addiction. Despite the erratic flows all caught fish on the river and had some great fishing on the ponds. There’s nothing better than being on the water with a great group of folks who have such a tremendous willingness to learn. We covered knots and rigging, casting, reading the water and there was plenty of catching going on as well. The temperature was in the mid 70’s with a lot of sun and sporadic cloud cover. Effective fly patterns included a standard Prince Nymph sz 16, San Juan Worms sz 16, and a variety of chironomid patterns. Our students did an amazing job of putting their new found skills to the test. I had a great time watching them hook and land fish!!!"
Our next class is set for June 15th and conditions should be perfect. If you have interest or questions, call the shop today. No gear? No problem. Trouts provides waders, boots, fly rods, reels, lunch and flies! We limit this class to six students and the class is already filling up. Who’s ready for summer time fly fishing in Colorado!?
