The crowds on the South Platte near Deckers were heavy this past weekend due to Memorial Day and higher flows on other rivers in Central Colorado.  On the positive side, the increased angling pressure didn’t seem to impact the fishing on our recent client trips.  We successfully landed a few rainbow trout that were measured right at the twenty-inch mark as well as a number of smaller brown trout.

Late spring is always a dynamic time of year here in Colorado.  From a weather perspective, you never know what you are going to get when you head outdoors – especially up in the mountains. The good news is that there are almost always great fishing opportunities if you want to find them.

Straight from the Horse’s Mouth - Gunnison River Flow Update

May Fishing Report: Bear Creek

Flows are currently rising on bear creek with current flows above 115.  When I started fishing the creek on Sunday the water was at 100 cfs around 3:00 PM and slowly dropped to 94 cfs as I was leaving around 7:00 PM. Water clarity was a little murky when I first started but appeared to improve as the afternoon continued.
