This fly tying class is designed to expand fly tier’s ability to create effective grasshopper patterns in anticipation of the amazing grasshopper fishing we should see in July and August. We keep our tying classes small – Hopper Madness is limited to six (6) participants.
Come join Denver angler and long time Orvis guru Kerry Caraghar on the second floor of the shop for an intimate evening where he will give you an inside look at dynamite fishing options close to the Mile High City. Kerry will share tips and advice to help you fish rivers like Clear Creek, Bear Creek, and sections of the South Platte River more effectively.

I've owned Trouts Fly Fishing for over 8 years now. It’s been an exciting run. Highlights include the move to our vintage location on 6th and Marion, launching Trouts Guide Service in partnership with Freestone Outfitters, and of course bringing together the most knowledgeable and friendly staff in all the Front Range. But something new is afoot, and I can honestly say that it has created more buzz within my shop walls than anything else.
I've always kept one question at the forefront of my mind during my tenure as owner: How can Trouts better serve the greater Denver angling community in addition to our other national and international customers? I've never been one to let the grass grow beneath my feet, and when it comes to product selection I always thought we had our bases covered. The key word there was thought.
Join Tucker Ladd and the guys from Vail Valley Anglers for a one-day guided float on the Eagle River in Vail Valley during prime time. If you have never fished or floated the Eagle before this is a great opportunity to explore this unique fishery with a group of guides who know the river like the back of their hands. With water levels fairly high in many of the popular rivers across the State of Colorado, the South Platte River drainage continues to be a solid go-to option. The stream flow at Deckers was 91 CFS on June 1st and the water was clear – conditions were sunny with temperatures in the 60s. With a blue winged olive hatches coming off in the morning, we saw activity right off the bat.
