If you haven’t noticed, at Trouts Fly Fishing we spend a lot of time fishing and talking about the South Platte River. The South Platte is our home water. Very specifically, the Denver South Platte section is the closest fishery to the shop and is home to trout, carp, smallmouth bass and other species that can be chased on the fly.
One organization that is trying to improve this fishery is the Denver chapter of Trout Unlimited. For years, Denver Trout Unlimited has been raising money and awareness to improve this urban waterway. If you would like to learn more about fly fishing on the Denver South Platte and/or get more involved with helping to make improvements to the river, DTU is having a social meeting on Tuesday February 4th at 7:30 at the Skylark Tavern.
Here is what you will find out at the meeting, straight from the guys and gals at DTU:
“Join us Upstairs @ The Skylark Lounge on Tuesday, February 4 , 2014 from 7:30 pm until they kick us out. There will be plenty of fishy talk, pool and of course the bar will be open for business. Election of Officers and expiring Board Members will take place between shots. There will be an update on the $14 million dollar Grant /Frontier – Overland Park Project to improve the Denver South Platte Habitat. And as always at a DTU Social Night, there will be absolutely NO FUNDRAISING.” – Denver Trout Unlimited
