Fly FIshing Denver’s South Platte River

Here is another great article about fly fishing and the Denver South Platte River and a sound bite from Carp Slam veteran Luke Bever:

"Some of these places aren't the most serene places to fish, but I can go six minutes from my house to the Platte and catch a 20-pound fish," said Luke Bever, a Denver-rooted fishing guide who primarily works the South Plate area near Deckers, 90 minutes southwest of Denver. "Down in Deckers, we're fishing for trout primarily. But in the city I've caught everything from walleye and catfish to largemouth and smallmouth bass."

Fly Fishing Report: Bear Creek June 16th

Bear Creekis a tributary of the South Platte River not far from the Mile High City. Its source is Summit Lake near the fourteen thousand foot peak of Mount Evans. Bear Creek flows to a confluence with the South Platte River just south of Downtown Denver. We fished Bear Creek right around ~30 CFS.  The water seemed quite a bit clearer up closer toward Evergreen Lake.  This might have had to do with the estimated 6 billion people (!?) recreating in the river over Father’s Day weekend.
