Don’t Let This Happen To You

When you travel internationally to go fly fishing, things don’t always go as planned.  Actually, I take that back.  Most of the time something, somewhere, somehow… things manage to go awry.  It actually makes sense.  You are going somewhere new, fishing for a new species, making tight connections, using new gear and exploring new water. Sometimes… sXit just happens.

South Platte River Report: Late Winter Fly Fishing

We’re starting to see signs of spring fly conditions here in Colorado – albeit sporadically.  One day, we’ll be in shirt sleeves with the sun shining and the next in down jackets with snow flying. It is after all Colorado and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Mark Lance Fly Fishing Presentation March 13th

Trouts Fly Fishing is excited to announce that Mark Lance will be stopping by the shop on Thursday March 13th from 6-7pm to give our customers a slide show presentation and photography clinic. Mark will be showing a slide show about llama trekking for Colorado River and Rio Grande cutthroats in the Weminuche Wilderness and also talking about some of the photography techniques he used to shoot the images.  This is a free presentation here at the shop and a must-see-event if you have an interest in back country fly fishing and photography.

February Fly Fishing Report: Playing Hooky

hook·y - [hook-ee]  - noun - Unjustifiable absence from school, work, etc. (usually used in the phrase play hooky): "On the first warm spring day, the boys played hooky from school to go fishing." – http://www.dictionary.com

It is tough to call it hooky when the boss joins you on the river for a day of fly fishing on a Tuesday in February.  But still… it felt a lot like hooky.
