“Saturday afternoon appetizers when you get off the river - tapenade of sundries tomatoes, olives, garlic, roasted peppers and feta cheese served on a piece of grilled/toasted ciabatta bread.
“Saturday night main course - beef steak born and raised, grass fed, all natural from the ranch. This will be grilled out on an open fire with real wood grilled to your desire. We like to highlight the wonderful steak flavor and do offer horseradish sauce and other condiments on the side. Potatoes, vegetables and side dishes will be whatever is in season. We will have broccoli, beets, corn or green beans all from the ranch garden, in the fall. We also have wonderful cabbage and make great coleslaw which includes honey, raised and produced from honey bees right here on the ranch. Or we can make a fresh tossed green salad, all depending on what is in season in the garden.
“If you are interested in a vegetarian alternative: the vegetarian dinner we will include a batch of vegetarian lasagna which will include a choice of all of the vegetable side dishes as well.
“Dessert will most likely include a variety of homemade pies, peach, apple or cherry all from local growers. We will make what is freshest and in season. Other desserts could be a baked custard made from our own eggs raised here with our free-range chickens and sweetened with our own honey. Carrot cake or Yellow Cake with Chocolate frosting, all home made, are ranch favorites!”
We will have a number of different wines included with dinner, and breakfast will be served on Sunday morning before you get back in the drift boat for your second day of fly fishing.
Here is the original trip description:
Join Trouts Fly Fishing and Vail Valley Anglers for another unique hosted fly fishing adventure that you won't find anywhere else. On September 21st, Trouts will host a guided float trip on the Colorado River that starts at Derby Creek in the remote "middle" section of the Upper Colorado.
Clients will enjoy a full day of fly fishing - where the early fall fishing for browns should be fantastic - and arrive at a private and spacious cabin located on the banks of the Colorado. Six (6) anglers will then enjoy an evening on the river, deluxe accommodations, and a meal prepared by a gourmet chef (UPDATE: book today as we have only four spots left). Guests will spend a comfortable evening and overnight stay, followed by breakfast in the morning.
On Sunday September 22nd, guests will enjoy a second day of fly-fishing that includes a float down to the take-out in Dotsero. Fishing with dry flies, dry dropper rigs, nymphing and streamers should all be effective methods in September on the Colorado. Don't rule out throwing a mouse pattern either.
The trip cost for two days of float fishing, overnight accommodations, and meals: $790 per person
This trip will include wine with dinner on Saturday night and soft drinks and refreshments during the day. If guests would like any other beverages, they can bring their own and have them shuttled to the cabin with any other overnight gear they need as well.
