Blue River - North of Silverthorne

Report Date: 05/14/2012
  • Fishing is starting to pick up

    Reporter: Cody Hoeckelberg

    Flow Conditions:

Water Clarity: It's day to day at this point, so keep your eye on the weather

    Current Fishing Conditions:

The low flows coming out of Dillon Reservoir right now have created tough fishing on the Blue River North of Silverthorne.  Fish are feeding, but they are being very selective about when and what they choose to feed on.  Small leaders and tippets are a must, as is a well presented fly.  Watch the flows and try to time your fishing with any type of flow increase.  Don't be discouraged by off color water, as this addition to the equation could produce a feeding frenzy if the conditions are right.  We would have to image that there are some nice fish staging at the inlet to the river in Green Mountain Reservoir, so this area could be worth your time.
