If I was stranded on a desert island and had only one reel to bring it would be the 7 Plus. We have sold more of these bad boys than any other size in the Hatch line up. Why? Because it’s the perfect crossover reel for both salt and fresh water fly fishing. From Bonefish to Permit, Steelhead to Carp this reel has you covered.
Specifics on the Hatch Finatic Fly Reel Series from Hatch Fly Reels:
FINATIC: ﾻ ﾻa person filled with excessive enthusiasm and single minded devotion toward chasing fins with a fly
We’ve made some pretty significant changes for 2012. We’ve created a new frame and spool design called the FINATIC. A play on words you’ll understand the second you see the reel. We’ve also added a new size in the 1 PLUS. This little reel rounds out our line by offering the 0–2 weight crowd an option they’ve never been given by Hatch in the past. The new designs are lighter, just as durable as they’ve ever been, and more stylish than anything we’ve done prior. And the best news is that the new FINATIC is backwards compatible to our previous MONSOON and PULSE models. Meaning, the frames and spools are interchangeable with what you already own. The goal was to update the image of our reels — not make them obsolete. We hope you enjoy the new reels as much as we like making them. Cheers!

The Difference between a Mid Arbor and Large Arbor Fly Reel:
Mid Arbor fly reels are going to be the closest to the traditiona fly reels of the last decade. The overall advantage of a mid arbor fly reels is the slightly larger diameter spool for increased line retrieval as well as additional line and backing capacity.
Large Arbor fly reels would be comparable to a high-speed gear ratio in a spinning or conventional reels. The large diameter spool arbor allows the angler to pick up much more line with each revolution of the reel. Ideal for big game fish speicies, or those anglers looking to get the most line and backing capacity out of their reel.
