Leader / Tippet
Fly fishing tackle that connects the fly line to your fly is called leader and tippet. This typically includes a tapered leader which connects to your fly line and a tippet section which connects the leader to your fly. Tippet is often times also used to connect two flies – an example of this is the Rocky Mountain Nymph Rig or the Dry Dropper Rig. Leaders and tippets are generally constructed of nylon or fluorocarbon. For some species like pike, muskie, and barracuda, wire is used for the terminal section of rigging to connect your fly.
