When one thinks of the infamous Trico hatches that grace the West, most conjure up images of epic dry fly fishing to wary trout.  What many don't realize is that trout feast on these insects below the surface as well, most of the time with a lot less scutinization.  Ed Engle, who is an infamous angler and writer on Colorado's Arkansas River has come up with a great sub surface Trico pattern that seems to always get into the trout's feeding zone.  Fished deep on a tandem nymph rig, or fished behind a Trico dry imitation, Engle's Drowned Trico will have you looking at this hatch in a whole new lite.
