It's Christmas Eve...and Ivan is joined by Trouts owner Tucker Ladd to talk fishing, holidays, snow and the new year. Having just past the winter solstice, days will be getting longer every day! That's both a joke and not a joke. Clearly, the meat of winter is still in front of us, but good fishing can still be had, especially on those tailwaters. The South Platte continues to produce from top to bottom with all of the expected bugs for this time of year: Midges, BWOs, and attractors like eggs, worms, and stoneflies.
With midges serving as the most common fare on both tailwaters and freestones alike, pay attention to your drift and depth. Adjust those and the patterns should matter less.
