Runoff has peaked on many of our favorite freestones and we're staring down the barrel of really good post runoff fishing. With flows dropping, water temperatures hitting key marks, summer bugs are on their way. Golden stones, yellow sallies, PMDs, caddis, and drakes are all on their way. Time to fill your fly boxes with every size, shape and color of fly because fish will have all sorts of options as water comes into prime shape. While the water is coming down, it's still high and fish will be focused on the soft edges and behind obstructions. As the flows on many of our freestones come into shape, remember to stay safe out on the water and don't row if you don't know.
We love falling water and look forward to this window of fishing every year. From the mouth of Trouts Frisco General Manager & Guide Zeke Hersh - "The next two weeks are about to be the best two weeks of fishing of the summer."
Can't disagree with that. Don't forget about stillwaters and warmwater, as well.
