Bi-Weekly Video Fishing Report & Forecast - June 20th Edition

Ivan Orsic / Jun 20, 2019

You don't know unless you go. Truer words have never been said, especially in reference to fishing during spring runoff. There's no doubt that there is a lot of water moving through our freestones and tailwaters. However, if you play your cards right and find steady or dropping flows on any river, you'll be able to throw big flies (stoneflies, worms, craneflies, eggs, leeches, and scuds (on tailwaters) on big tippet and give yourself a chance at catching some of the biggest fish of your year. Concentrate on the soft water next to banks and you're likely to find fish hiding from the heavy spring flows. They still have to eat and they'll do so with reckless abandon if conditions are right.

ALSO...streamers. Big ones.

If you want to test your stillwater skills, there are plenty of options in Colorado and up north in Wyoming. We're smack dab in the middle of chironomid season and cruising and rising fish are not abnormal.
