The weather looks terrible over the next two weeks. Terrible, if you're a fan of good weather. But, we'll be honest, it looks like great weather if you like good fall fishing. With cooler temperatures, some clouds, rain and a dash of snow in the forecast for the next two weeks, blue-winged olives and streamers will be the ticket. When the sun is out, expect midges in the morning and blue-winged olives as the sun starts to creep behind the hills in the afternoon.
With flows on the tailwaters dropping towards their base flows, stealth, fluorocarbon and smaller tippet will be the key to putting fish in the net. With that in mind, stay warm and prepare for pods of rising fish chowing on Blue-Wings.
If you're new to the Front Range, please know that the colder temperatures of fall do not equate to bad fishing. Quite the opposite, in fact. The next couple of weeks should be impressive.
