We're proud to bring a new weekly feature to the blog this season. Every week, we'll bring you a guided trip report fresh off of the water from one of our professional Fly Fishing Guides. Each week, we will feature a report that will detail the location, timing, hatch information, fly selection, and rigging. For this week's feature, here's a report from Trouts Denver Guide Tucker Bamford.
LOCATION: South Platte near Deckers
GUIDE: Tucker Bamford
LENGTH OF TRIP: Walk/Wade Full Day
FLOWS: 52.4 cfs
With recent flow drops and the big winter storm last week, tricos have thinned out significantly. Blue-winged olives and Midges were around subsurface and on top and fish were responding to them well. Midge hatch in the morning was pretty solid and found fish rising to them until about Noon. Blue-winged olive hatch wasn't anything to write home about in the afternoon when the sun starting dipping in the horizon, but it's only a matter of time and cloudy days before that really starts to take off. The lower flows have made fish a little more tippet
