LOCATION: Eagle River near Wolcott
GUIDE: Mike Tolerton
LENGTH OF TRIP: Walk-Wade
"The Eagle is fishing great right now. Fish were gorging on midges from the time we got to the river to the time we left. Deep nymphing rigs when we first got going were the ticket, adjusting higher through the water column as the hatch intensified. Although we did get some surface eats during the height of the hatch, dropping an unweighted pupa 6” below the dry put most of our fish in the net. A combination of black beauties, medallion midges, Morgan’s para midge, and a few patterns I tie all got the job one."
