Ivan Orsic / May 5, 2021

Each week we choose one report from our Guide Reports section of the FISHING INFORMATION page! Click the Guide Report dropdown and you'll find up-to-date Guide Reports from our professional fly fishing guides. Each report will detail the location, timing, hatch information, fly selection, and rigging.

Check out this recent report from Ryan Wooten. Ryan's report discusses a recent walk/wade trip on the Blue. Stay tuned to our Guide Reports section for more reports as we continue to get clients out on the water.

LOCATION: Blue River
GUIDE:
Ryan Wooten
LENGTH OF TRIP:
Walk/Wade

"Standard procedure of meeting our clients at 8 AM, drinking some coffee, discussing final trip details, and telling fishing lies. We packed up and headed out to the beautiful Blue River to fish a section just north of the town of Silverthorne. After gearing up and being greeted by the morning sun rising over The Gore Range, we had a quick casting clinic and right to business. These guys learned fast, within 5 minutes of fishing, lines started going tight and Head Guide Tim Suplee and I quickly went to work! Over the course of the day, 35+ plus fish were hooked and 15 hit the net. These fish were hot! Fish were fed on subtle mysis patterns, Jujubee Midge in red and eggs. Good news: I saw a few caddis out and about and ants were everywhere. Don't shy away from carrying a second dry fly rod. Maybe even rigged with an Elk Hair Caddis to a small ant pattern 18" apart, you might be surprised!"
