Ivan Orsic / Jul 27, 2021

PRODUCTIVE FLIES

Each week we choose one report from our Guide Reports section of the FISHING INFORMATION page! Click the Guide Report dropdown and you'll find up-to-date Guide Reports from our professional fly fishing guides. Each report will detail the location, timing, hatch information, fly selection, and rigging.

This week's Guide Report is brought to you by Tucker Bamford. Read below to hear about Tucker Bamford and his recent full-day walk/wade trip on the South Platte at Deckers. Stay tuned to our Guide Reports section for more reports as we continue to get clients out on some of our favorite water.

PMD nymphs were the ticket today

We saw a great trico hatch from about 9:30 to 11:30 AM today which brought numerous fish to the surface to feed on spinners along the edges and in slower water. Nymph action was decent the rest of the day but not what I'd call red hot. Most of the fish were eating PMD nymphs like hot belly pheasant tails and chocolate emergers, but we also got a couple on worms. We found some fish in the usual pools, but also sight-fishing riffles in the afternoon. They were a bit fickle, so persistence was key to catching them.
