Trouts Fly Fishing Forecast | April 8th Edition

Ivan Orsic / Apr 8, 2021

Midges in the morning. Blue Wings in the afternoon. That's a pretty good formula for spring in the Rockies. Mix in some subsurface Caddis and a streamer or two (especially when it's overcast) and there's not much more you can ask for as an angler getting out in the spring.

As always, attractors like worms, eggs, leeches, craneflies, and stoneflies will continue to get the job done. We've mentioned it before, but it's important to keep the flow charts/hydrographs at your fingertips this time of year, as there can be some flow fluctuations that can impact fishing. Otherwise, it's a great time to be out on the water and enjoy the fruits of spring!
