It's late summer in the Rockies. Which generally means lower flows, hoppers, droppers, and tricos, as some of our favorite summer hatches wind down. However, the flow fairies have looked fondly upon us and late summer is bringing some healthy flows along the South Platte. That means leeches, scuds, and big attractors are on the menu along the South Platte. A refreshing change after a somewhat technical summer.
On the freestones, it's a slightly different story. The Colorado is in pretty good shape, but we're seeing lower than average flows on the Eagle. With low flows, getting on the water early and off early will be the key to finding healthy and happy fish when the water is holding below 67F. Hopper-droppers and streamers are the way to go as we inch towards fall.Subtotal
