It's still winter here in Colorado, but spring will be here before we know it. We've got a nice little warm stretch of weather coming up on both the Front Range and up in the high country and we expect a good weekend of productive winter fishing ahead of us. Midges, blue-winged olives, and attractors will be the name of the game. Generally, the smaller the better with midges and blue-wings this time of the year. Big spring midges are on the horizon, so start stocking your boxes with size 16s and 18s.
Work on depth control, mending, and rigging are all skills to hone during these colder months. Simplify your fly choice and get the flies down to the fish.
