The in-store portion of each class will take place in the River Room (our brand new education room) at our new location - 1025 Zuni Street, Denver, CO 80204.

Fly Fishing 101 | February 16th, 2021 | 5 to 7 PM @ Trouts Denver
Trouts Fly Fishing 101 classes are the perfect class for beginners of any ages. In our 101 class, we cover an array of information starting with setting up your fly rod, terminal tackle, basic fly selection, knot tying, and reading the water. We understand that fly fishing can be frustrating and at times intimidating, we want to remove those for you. We want to be an integral part of you becoming a self-reliant, accomplished angler. With this in mind, the goal of our Trouts Fly Fishing 101 class is to provide people the opportunity to successfully wade into the sport of fly fishing. (COST: $50)
Bugs for Beginners | February 9th & 23rd, 2021 | 5 to 7 PM @ Trouts Denver
At one point or another, we have been on the water and watched fish seemingly jumping all around us, gorging themselves on the thousands of bugs. As fly anglers, we’ve heard the expression 'Match the Hatch', yet we continue scratching our heads while casting to fish uninterested in our flies. Without question a better understanding of a trout’s diet will help improve your success with fly fishing.
Our Trouts Bugs for Beginners class will help demystify the major food sourcestrout key in on throughout the year. We will focus in on Midges, Mayflies, Caddis, Stoneflies, Terrestrials, and general attractors. Our class is designed and purposed to help you better understand the major insect groups Including how to effectively identify and fish them.You will leave our class with the capabilities to successfully 'Match the Hatch'. Umpqua Fly Tying 101 | February 10th, 2021 | 5 to 7 PM @ Trouts Denver
Trouts is excited to partner with Umpqua Feather Merchants to begin offering introductory classes geared towards the budding fly tier.
We'll be offering these classes throughout the fall, winter, and spring in-person with limited space to meet all COVID requirements. Don't delay! Sign up today! Catching a trout on a fly you tied is without a doubt one of those most rewarding experiences this great sport can offer. This class is mindfully built towards the beginning fly tier and will cover general terminology, tool identification and application, basic materials and their uses -and then the best part - tying flies! Upon completion of the class, you'll walk away with different fly patterns that are ready to fish on our local waters! (COST: $50)
Umpqua Fly Tying 201 | February 17th, 2021 | 5 to 7 PM @ Trouts Denver
If you've started your journey into fly tying and you feel comfortable with general terminology, tool identification and application, basic materials and their uses, then take your next step and join us for our Umpqua Fly Tying 201 Classes this fall, winter, and spring!
In 201 classes, you'll build on the foundation that we established in Umpqua Fly Tying 101 and spend the class learning versatile, box filling, fish-catching fly patterns that will expound upon your burgeoning fly tying knowledge base. Each Umpqua Fly Tying 201 class will take place over the course of two hours and gets you ready to start filling your boxes with your own created supply. We'll be offering these classes throughout the fall, winter, and spring in-person with limited seats to meet all COVID requirements. (COST: $225)
Saltwater Prep School | February 13th & 27th, 2021 | 8 AM to 4 PM @ Trouts Denver
One thing is for sure; you can’t catch what you can’t present your fly to. Anyone who has been on the bow of a skiff has undoubtedly either trout set or was simply ill-prepared to get the fly to its intended target. Trust us, we’ve all been there!
To help ensure our customers are ready for their upcoming saltwater adventures, we started our salt-water prep school to provide our clients with the necessary skillset to make sure your presentation counts. During this class, we will cover loop formation, line speed, double-haul casting, and most importantly PRESENTATION! We will review best practices that help you and your guide work as a team. This school is offered exclusively out of our Denver, CO location. (COST: $250)
