LISTEN: "Down The Path" - Fly Fishing Mystery Podcast

Ivan Orsic / Jun 25, 2019

Will Rice, a freelance writer, a connoisseur of fine tequilas, international angler, and former Marketing Manager here at Trouts Fly Fishing, has ventured into the world of podcasting. His first foray is the Serial-esque investigation surrounding the disappearance of fly angler Ronald Scheepstra while flyfishing near the small village of Xcalak, Mexico on April 11, 2009. Will first wrote about Ron’s disappearance in the Spring of 2009 – now, 10 years later he revisits the case and talks to people who were close to Ron as well as those who participated in the search efforts. The podcast documents a year-long journey and is told over six episodes.

At the time of this blog, Will has released four episodes. Like every good cultural phenomenon (i.e. SERIAL, Game of Thrones, PokemonGO), I chose to stay on the sidelines, so I could experience the full binge as much as I could. (I was kidding about PokemonGO - I was catching them all from the start.) Last week, I finally gave in. I breezed through the first four episodes real quick. Even gave a couple a re-listen. Fly fishing or not, Ron Scheepstra's disappearance and the way Will and the show's editor Jason Rolfe present and flesh out the story is certainly intriguing. Episode 5 of 6 is dropping soon. I for one can't wait. If you haven't jumped aboard the "Down The Path" train, I'd recommend doing so.

"DOWN THE PATH" is available on iTunes, Spotify, and Stitcher. For more, check out their website!

SIDE NOTE: I've never played PokemonGO. I swear!
