This morning our staff here at Trouts was notified by a Colorado Parks and Wildlife agent about an update regarding the current voluntary closures put in place along the Colorado River. The update comes from CPW's Senior Aquatic Biologist and is welcome news for those eager to get out and explore the Colorado River.
The update is as follows,
CPW will be making some changes relative to our fishing closures, effective tomorrow August 24th. Here are the changes:
1) The voluntary, full day fishing closure on the Colorado River from the Red Dirt Creek confluence downstream to the Hwy.13 bridge in Rifle will be lifted.
2) The voluntary, after 12 pm fishing closure on the Eagle River from the upper boundary within the Gypsum Ponds State Wildlife Area downstream to the Colorado River confluence will be lifted.
These updates can be found on CPW's website here, and then navigate to the current fishing closures information. This page allows you to see all current river closures as well as detailed locations of closures which are updated every 5 mins.
