It is exciting that we are starting to finally get into the groove of things with this weekly recap and playlist. Once again, I got plenty of emails regarding what songs should be featured. Please keep them coming. I also would love to hear about the conservation news y'all believe I should be hearing about when it comes to our public lands and waters. Driving into work this morning, I tossed on some Alan Jackson and just kinda got into the headspace of the weekend. There is something about the song "Good Time" by Alan Jackson that just does it for me, anyone else? Potentially, it is because I am flying to Kansas City, Missouri tonight for some weekend fun or, it is my suburban Texan roots showing. The answer is truly a mystery. Speaking of Kansas City, Missouri that place is a *sneaky* good time. If you do not want to take my word for it, go check out the late Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" episode on the place and make your mind up from there. Speaking of a good time, the PBR bar will be my first stop. I have heard it is kinda the bee's knees. That is my weekend plan. How about y'all? What do y'all have going on this weekend? Shoot me an email, I want to hear about it.

This week was a busy one in the content department. We put out a bunch of great reads for y'all this past week, do not worry we will be linking them in this week's recap. So without further ado, let us get into our weekly recap.

In case you missed your chance to come to our Grand Opening Party for the new shop two weeks ago and still want to give towards Denver Trout Unlimited and their mission on improving the health and habitat below the waterline of the Denver South Platte, you can! On Sunday, we released our limited edition Bajio x Trouts, "Go With The Flow" t-shirts, designed by Casey Anderson. Each shirt sold ($25 each) went towards Denver Trout Unlimited and their mission for the Denver South Platte. As I said before there is only a limited number of shirts available and when they are gone, they are gone. So, get them while you can and support Denver Trout Unlimited and your true home water.

Monday we put out some fantastic reads for y'all regarding the Colorado high country. High-Country Exploration 201 is perfect for those anglers looking to take the next step from day hikes to multi-day high country adventures. Extending your time in the high country is arguably the best way to a successful trip in the Colorado high country. More time to fish and more opportunity to find a lake or creek that is yours. Go give them both a read today and start making plans for next week! Whenever you choose to make your ascent into the alpine, we here at Trouts will be waiting to help.

Tuesday saw an update on the current Colorado River Fishing Closure. The update brought positive news for the Colorado River. Due to much-needed temperature relief, and a sustained drop in water temperatures Colorado Parks and Wildlife agents warranted the relaxation of restrictions placed on certain sections of the Colorado River. The rollback of restrictions is specific to the stretch of the Colorado River from State Bridge down to the confluence with Red Dirt Creek. Speaking of positive news, we released our Featured Trouts Guide Report outlining Brian Hilbert and his recent walk-wade trip on the Arkansas River at Buena Vista. Per his report Zebra Midges seemed to be the biggest producer on the water. Keeping with the idea of positive news, The Confluences is hosting their 2nd Annual - A Cleaner Clear on Saturday, September 11, 2021. If you are looking to help clean up and volunteer your time making a section of Clear Creek better, now is the time! If you are interested in signing up CLICK HERE!

Wednesday Trouts Owner/President - Tucker Ladd released another Summer Water Update. In the update, he cleared up the misinformation and confusion regarding the current situation regarding the Colorado River. Tucker reminds anglers of the positive news that Colorado Parks and Wildlife has been issuing regarding the Colorado River and their recent relaxation of restrictions over the previous week. Tucker also emphasizes the silver lining in all of this which is, that there is more than ample water in all of the reservoirs in the Upper Colorado River Basin. In closing, Tucker offers a new perspective that should be considered regarding Colorado waters and is well worth the read.

Thursday, we introduced an exciting new revamp to our current Happy Hour. If you are not familiar every Thursday and Friday from 4 PM - 7 PM, we are pleased to offer $0.50 off every fly in the building, 10% off terminal tackle and fly tying materials. However, now that Trouts Fly Fishing is well established in the brand new location, we are proud to announce the introduction of our 'Guide Happy Hour'. Historically, our Happy Hour has always been a good time. But, now with our new location and renovated back deck we felt that it was the perfect time for our customers to have an opportunity to meet and interact with our Professional Guide Staff. Oh, and if you were wondering if there will be $0.50 off flies, 10% off terminal tackle, fly tying materials, and beer available, the answer is yes! Please keep in mind these unique Guide Happy Hours will have specific dates. If you are interested in dropping by head over to our Event Calendar to find which date works best for you!

Friday Trouts was given notice by Colorado Parks and Wildlife on their decision regarding The Eagle River and Roaring Fork River. The decision was another voluntary fishing closure. The closure is placed on sections of the Eagle River and Roaring Fork River. These voluntary closures go into place starting July 24, 2021. Colorado Parks and Wildlife reminds anglers that "If stressful conditions persist or compliance with the closure does not occur, Colorado Parks and Wildlife can implement a mandatory fishing closure to protect the fishery resource.". Colorado Parks and Wildlife also reminds anglers to fish at a higher elevation where environmental factors are less severe. This idea is something we here at Trouts have been encouraging anglers to do as well. If you need any more reason to go explore the high country, this should be it.

Well guys and girls, that about wraps it up for this weekly recap. As you can see, we had a very productive week. I hope you are all enjoying this sort of casual and laid-back wrap-up. Hopefully, you are reading this on your way to the water or while eating some gas station hot dogs after a long day on the water. A little inside secret? The hot dog stands outside Home Depot always have the best ones. Anyways I digress, I hope you all had an enjoyable and productive week. I look forward to receiving emails regarding song choices and conservation news. If you need anything before your weekend adventure, make sure you swing by the shop. Come chat and ask your questions or drink a cold one on our back deck. Most of all, make sure you are prepared for your weekend on the water.

As always, get out. Gas up the truck, load up the fly boxes, and enjoy the weekend. Oh, and make sure to take The Tape Deck with you.
