The Denver South Platte can be challenging, for even seasoned anglers, but fly fishing first-timers Dani & Scott were quick studies and were able to meet some of the very high-quality residents of the DSP! Winners of Colorado Parks & Wildlife's Take a Friend Fishing Contest, Scott and Dani scored a full day of fishing on the urban river and used that time to kickstart their fly fishing journey. We surveyed the river to see as many species as possible, and 5 species were hooked and two were landed, including trophy rainbows, and a Trouts' favorite, a MONSTER white sucker! The river is in prime shape and all species are feeding actively. Heavy Metal Worms were the hot ticket for trout & suckers, and the smallies and carp will never say no to a jigged black leech.
