The Clinch Knot is a standard in the world of fly fishing, especially for trout. It is one of the most effective and popular ways to attach your fly to your tippet. While it's a relatively easy knot, the clinch can get a little tedious when you're making 5 or 6 wraps. A couple of months ago, while we were enjoying a day of fishing with Umpqua's own Alec Gerbec, Alec whipped up a clinch knot so quickly, we did a little double-take. It's such a quick tip...it's almost easy to miss. This technique is such a time saver that frankly, we felt it irresponsible to not share it with you.
