First and foremost, we know we're just a tad late with getting this episode of Five Flies out. Our apologies for the delay. Truth be told, Five Flies videographer Ivan Orsic ran into a little bit of a health issue right as we were wrapping up production of this month's episode and it's release was delayed for a couple of weeks.
Luckily, conditions in late January are very similar to conditions in early January. It's winter after all. That means midges, blue-winged olives and attractors will be the main fare for trout in the Rocky Mountains.
For this month's episode, our own Tanner Smith was joined by Umpqua and Team USA's own Russell Miller. Tanner and Russ spent the day demonstrating the pros and cons of indicator ("bobber") nymphing and euro nymphing. When it comes down to it, both methods have their advantages and disadvantages and we saw those on full display on a frigid morning on the South Platte.
