June is here and while there's plenty of great trout fishing to be had, this month's episode is focusing on targeting warmwater species on the fly. From small- and largemouth bass to wipers & walleye, throwing hearty meals at aggressive, piscivorous fish is hard to beat. There are plenty of stellar warmwater fisheries that dot the Front Range (including large and small reservoirs, neighborhood ponds and the mighty Denver South Platte) and they have come into form as summer approaches!

Umpqua's Josh Graffam joined our own warmwater guru Rick Mikesell and made a trip east to toss some big sticks at a wide assortment of hungry fish in the eastern plains. Not only are warmwater species a great escape from high water, but they're also a worthy quarry and June is one of our favorite times to chase warmwater species along the Front Range.
