March marks the transition from winter into spring and our favorite rivers are starting to wake up from their winter slumber. With warmer temperatures and increased bug life on the horizon, we're finally starting to loosen winter's grip. Midges, Blue-Winged Olives, Molting Stoneflies, and even Caddis will start to become more active. We might be going to go out on a limb here, but we think that fish like bugs and not frigid water temperatures.

For this month's episode, our good friend and customer Kat Rooney (who won our 2020 Holiday Toy Drive Contest and as a result, the "pleasure" of tagging along to film this month's episode of Five Flies) joins Trouts own Zeke Hersh & Tanner Smith for a day of early spring fishing on the Arkansas River near Salida. We saw a smattering of midges and a handful of smaller stoneflies and the squad got the job done with the full selection of this month's flies.
