It’s hard to beat this picture. There’s no escaping the sun. It’s everywhere. Especially on the decidedly tree-less banks of the prairie lake we were fishing. After walking the high bank for a couple of hours casting to cruising rainbows, a man like myself worked up a pretty decent thirst. Cracking that beer open gave me some sweet relief from that ever present sun. It’s hard to beat an ice cold beverage on a hot summer day on the water. It seems to solve all of the world’s problems, if not for a couple of minutes.
That Tecate wouldn’t have been cold without the good folks at Yeti stepping up their soft-sided cooler game with the new Yeti Hopper Two. The sun was beating down pretty fierce that day and the heat was inescapable. The Hopper Two could run, but it couldn’t hide. I left it in the bed of the truck to bake and put it in the cab of the truck to boil. At the end of the day, when the beer was all gone, the ice was still there. There’s a lot to be said for that. I’d rather drink an ice-cold beverage after twelve hours of fishing than a warm one. There's good reason all of our guides use Hopper Twos on their guide trips.
The Yeti Hopper Two commands a premium price tag. But, it makes sense. The soft-sided cooler has welded seams, HydroLok Zipper, and 1.5-inch thick “ColdCell” insulation. Like any good waterproof bag, the leakproof HydroLok zipper is the key. Usually found on waders, waterproof bags, and dry suits, the HydroLok zipper adds some additional cost, but saves you time, money, ice, and that much feared dry mouth.
With some thoughtful updates from the original Hopper, the Hopper Two is a super portable and durable soft-sided cooler that is a must-have for weekend getaways into the mountains, tailgates, and family time in the city.
