2021 Trouts Guide Academy.

We are excited to announce our 2021 Trouts Guide Academy! If you're looking to take the next step from accomplished angler to capable and certified guide, act now!

This 6-day course will focus on providing you the skills to become a knowledgeable guide providing quality and successful fly fishing experiences (walk/wade & float). The Trouts Guide Academy will give you the tools to take the next step in your fly fishing career and become a certified professional fly fishing guide, that we'd be proud to send out on the water.

In addition to oar certification, the course will concentrate on equipment rigging, boat preparation/rigging/maneuvering, guide etiquette, casting instruction, safety, entomology, river knowledge, protocol (do’s and don'ts) and care for the shared outdoor resource. At the end of your seven days with our experienced and talented guide instructors, you will be prepared to pursue your career as a fly fishing guide in the state of Colorado.

With over 40 combined years of guiding experience in the state of Colorado, our guide instructors are two of our most experienced and qualified guides. Their sole focus is to pass along their years of experience as both float and walk/wade guides, and provide you with the highest quality of training to prepare you for a career as a professional fly fishing guide.

Sunday - April 25th through Friday - April 30th, 2021

$2,275/person for 6 days (10 - 12 hours of instruction a day)

Students will need to bring waders, wading boots, a change of clothes, rain jacket, Type III PFD, river knife, whistle, a hat, fingerless gloves, fly rod, fly reel, terminal tackle, flies, sunscreen, snacks and plenty of water. We will provide lunch on the trips but bring extra snacks and beverages if you need.

LODGING
Lodging is not included in the Trouts Guide Academy. Trouts Frisco is located in downtown Frisco and a variety of lodging options exist in Frisco and the surrounding towns. For Frisco specific lodging, we recommend the Frisco Lodge, Hotel Frisco, the Frisco Inn, or the Snowshoe Motel.

FIRST AID CPR TRAINING

All River Guides must complete Medic First Aid and CPR training. Before you can be a certified guide you must complete a Medic First Aid and CPR class. However, this is not required to take and complete the course.

GUIDE EMPLOYMENT
If you are interested in becoming a guide for Trouts Fly Fishing, this course is designed to prepare you to become a professional guide and one that is well-suited and qualified to join our world-class staff. Taking this course does not guarantee placement on our guide roster. However, we are currently accepting applications for Guides at both our Trouts Denver and Trouts Frisco locations.
