Pretty epic day down at the ol' Dirty D! We got an early start and were boots wet, on the water by about 0800. Found a fish fairly quickly on a brown leech but then things slowed up a bit. We poked around finding one here, and one there, but by about 1015 it was starting to feel a bit warmer. I always say, once I start feeling warm, those fish should start feeling warm as well. Sure enough, after shedding a layer we were hooked up, and then doubled up! Size 20 Mercury Bead PT was the meal of choice for all of these willing fish. Sporadic Blue Wings were popping in the air but never enough to see a consistent showing of noses. After lunch we switched from a brown leech to a brown worm and found success. The afternoon fished very well- we caught fish consistently on the Mercury Bead PT (20) and the ol Deckers Dirt Snake. We are starting to see more and more caddis casings under rocks and on debris pulled up from the bottom of the river. Spring fishing is only going to get better and better!
