Deckers is good right now, plain and simple. High water and cooler overnight temperatures have these fish vey happy. We are pulling some thick boys out as of late and it seems to be due to the abundance of high protein food sources available from the recent bump in flows. Scuds- I’ve heard a lot of hype surrounding them, and have definitely seen them in the water, but for the longest time didn’t believe that fish actually ate them, mainly due to my lack of personal success using them. Turns out I was wrong, fish definitely eat scuds. We had success on worms and leeches as well. For bugs try larger foam backs and PMD nymphs. Don’t get far bank syndrome— you’d be surprised what you might find on a well presented shorter cast.
