TRIP SUMMARY

It was a really fun day at Deckers! With nice weather, the crowds were a bit heavy up close to Deckers and Trumbull so we fished further downriver. There were good midge hatches throughout the day and a couple BWO’s around but we only saw a few stray rises so we stuck to nymph fishing the whole time. Orange eggs and tiny #22-24 midge patterns were the most productive flies. Tiny baetis nymphs got a couple near the end of the day. Most of the fish were concentrated in the deeper runs and pools.
There are a lot of browns spawning right now so if you head up there this week, be careful where you step to avoid disturbing the spawning beds and please don’t target actively spawning fish.
