TRIP SUMMARY

It’s hard not to love a good snow day on the river! Crowds were light today. We saw a few midges and BWO’s around but not many of either one and just a few stray rising fish. It seemed like every brown trout in the river was spawning today. If you head that way, be careful where you walk so you don’t disturb the eggs. With all that spawning activity, one would think eggs would be at the top of the menu but tiny brown baetis like PT’s and foam back Emergers were the most effective patterns for us. Action was decent but most of the fish caught were smaller rainbows. The bigger browns were a little too focused on bedding up which is why it only earned a 3 star rating.
