Flows have been steady in the 90 - 100 cfs range on the South Platte River at Deckers this has caused fish to be spook easily, keep a low profile while approaching the river if you do spook fish once you settle into your spot, after a few minutes you will notice fish returning back to their feeding ground. Target deeper runs in the morning, and you will notice fishing pushing into tail outs and the riffles as the day warms.
With weather pushing 52 degrees on Sunday afternoon, between 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm a spastic hatch of (size 18) mayflies, allowed us to stray away from the traditional nymph set up (Attractor - Egg, worm, leech to smaller Midge or beatis size 20 - 22). We casted a size 18 BWO between gust of winds to land a few nice fish on the dry eating in a back eddy on the side of a run.
