Great mid winter day down at Deckers. Can't beat sun shining, mid forties, and the river to yourself in the middle of February! Fishing was strong early on with midges being the the meal of choice. Go small this time of year! Top colors were tan and black in #22. Use enough weight to get your bugs down quick-- fish are holding in the deeper, slower water. It's getting close to being egg season again- we took one fish on an egg early in the day. Take advantage the light crowd this time of year-- cover ground and don't spend too much time in one place. Fishing slowed a bit in the afternoon as the wind picked up and the front began moving in, but still managed to find a few midge eaters to close out a classic winter day on the water.
