Great snowy day at Deckers. Despite the less than ideal weather, it was still quite crowded being a Saturday. We were able to find some feeding fish though and had a ton of success consistently throughout the day. Early on midges were the name of the game. A Barr’s pure larvae and a black $3 dip, both in size 20 accounted for most of our fish. We also caught a few fish on worms and leeches but midges were definitely preferred by the trout. We mainly found fish in the deeper runs and pools but did pick off a few fish feeding in the riffles. After lunch there were quite a few midges coming off and the $3 dip continued to shine until about 1:30 when we started seeing Blue wings hatching. A size 20 Barr’s emerger dominated the remainder of the day fished mid column. We did a lot of sight fishing, spotting feeding fish and casting to them. To end the day we threw some dries to rising fish and after picking off a few with a size 20 cdc comparadun we called it a day. All in all a great day! 25+ to the net, good luck out there!
