Colorado River is fishing as good as it can be right now. Had another great day nymphing. Lots of midges, blue wings and even saw a few early caddis flying around. The blue wings weren’t as dense today as they have been as the bump in flows cooled the water back down. Midge imitations were the ticket for us today and accounted for 80%+ of our hook ups. Zebra midges, $3 dips and thread larvae had us bent nearly the entire day. Per usual, depth is critical. You have to find the feeding lanes and have enough weight to get your flies into the zone fast and keep them there. Takes can be very subtle so be sure to set the hook at any indication of a take. Takes can be a twitch, tick, slow pull or even just a slight hesitation. Trout know immediately when they eat your fly that it is not real food and are trying to spit it out. Don’t be afraid to be quick on the trigger. Set it don’t regret it!!! Good luck out there!
