The Eagle River fishes very well in Spring as the upper section begins to relieve itself of ice and snow. We found late morning and mid afternoon to be the most productive times of day. Using a two fly nymph rig, we found plenty of success throughout the day. 4x to our fist flies and 5x to the second. Fish are beginning to transition into moving water to feed rather than their deep holes through winter. Look for rising trout as well! Flies we found success on were Clown Eggs - size 16, Jig Frenchies - size 18, and our main success came from JuJu Baetis in Red, Purple and Black all in size 20. These fish love Baetis this time of year.
